10 Unusual And Creative Clock Designs

When innovation becomes part of a clock's design, it makes something as simple as reading time an experience... giving you a different way to tell time. Have a look at these clocks to see what I'm talking about...

1. About Time Clock:

This clock represents innovation in telling time. It reveals time as it rolls around telling time in a long continuous sentence. The design comes as a response to our stressful lives, where we plan our daily activities by the minute... this clock tells you the time in sentences like "It's about six o'clock" or "Maybe more like around eight" as it rolls slowly on your table, it allows you to relax and not take time too seriously.

'rnd' in this clock's name is the indicator of how random this clock is. There's a cube for each hour, and one to hold the battery and clock hands. How you want this clock to look on your wall is totally up to you. Scatter them in any way you'd like... that's the only way you'll ever control time.

3. Cerealart Yoshitomo Nara Clock:

This unique clock flips one original drawing by Japanese pop artist Yoshitomo Nara out of 84 drawings for each hour and minute. How do you tell time on it? Look closer and you'll see the little numbers by the drawings. This is a fun way to keep up with time and enjoy some pop art at the same time.

4. TIX LED Clock :

This one is for the modern geek, or for whoever would like to 'count' what time it is. How you tell the time on it isn't as complicated as it may seems. Simply, each field represents a digit, and its value is the number of squares illuminated. So in this picture, it is showing 12:38. There are a lot of different patterns that you can set to change every minute, second or even every few seconds. You can also control the brightness of the LED. Time is now fun to watch go by!

5. The Decode Clock: [featured]

At first sight, the numbers written on the clock aren't quite readable. But as soon as the minute hand meets the numbers, it decodes them making them readable.

6. Extra Normal Clock:
Though it's called 'Extra Normal', there's nothing normal about it. Very minimalist and high contrast. The hour hand is a laser-cut black disk that rotates, exposing an hour as we approach it. This way, only current time matters. The past is gone and the future is still to come.

7. Numbers LED Clock:

This alarm clock was made to bring back the presentation of 'sleek, efficient and futuristic' that digital clocks represented when they first hit the markets back in the 1950s. A deconstructed clock, where each number has its own block. This way you have the freedom to rearrange the blocks in anyway you like.

8. KnoWhere Clock - You&Me :

This clock is kinda cute. It's perfect for the travelers or for people who have friends or family who live in a different time zone. It comes pre-assembled with 5 popular time zones, which you can easily change to whatever time zone you want to keep up with. Then, you can add blank handles to write on them whatever or whoever a certain time zone reminds you of. This way you can keep in mind all the friends and family away from you.

9. Orbit Clock:

I don't know how time is read on this clock, but it is certainly one of the most interesting shapes I've seen. This clock changes its shape every minute of every the hour, creating new shapes on your wall all day long. So even if you can't read time on it, it's still pretty to look at.

10. This Time Around, Around Clock:

This clock combines 2 things in its design: a measuring tape and a kitchen timer. The thin red dial stays in its place while the numbers rotate, displaying time in 15 minutes increments.
